Rules and regulations regarding lawyers

The statutory rules are mainly found in the Swedish Code of Judicial Procedure, but provisions on lawyers can additionally be found in a few other statutes.

Complaints about lawyers

If you are dissatisfied with a member of the Bar Association, you can make a complaint to the Bar Association’s Disciplinary Committee.

Membership and registration

Under Swedish law, only members of the Swedish Bar Association may use the professional title “advokat”.

About the Swedish Bar Association

The Swedish Bar Association was founded in 1887. Today, the Bar Association has more than 6,400 members.

The Bar Association’s office is located in Stockholm and is managed by the Secretary General of the Association, Mia Edwall Insulander.
